With a handfull of matches outstanding the tilte is still undecided. British Steel are top following a tough 7-3 away victory over Barrow B for whom Scott Fletcher recorded 2 fine wins. Champions Barrow A
lie second but will almost certainly be overtaken by both Barrow and Corus who play this week and next. Select One are currently bottom but are only points behind Rhyl Morfa and Pulford.

DIVISION 1

County Officers forced a draw with their A team and duly took the title with Alan Rigby and his side coming in as runners up. At the bottom Saughall Port had numerous injury problems throughout the season
and unfortunately finished in a relegation position. A fine victory at the end of the season saw Pulford B overtake their own A side who consequently finished second from bottom.

DIVISION 2

Beechwood were relegated at the end of last season but proved too strong for this division which they won comfortably. A close run thing for runners up spot resulted in Barrow D just outpointing Whitby Sports A. At the bottom Tarporley finished last despite signing Dave Galley during the season as back up but unfortunately this player then suffered injury . Electric Sports A relied very heavily upon Russell Benstead for the bulk of their points and finished just ahead of the Tarporley squad.

DIVISION 3

Congratulations to Tony Collard and his County Officers B team who won the title. The runners up spot has not yet been decided but favourites are the Groves C team who have completed there fixtures and have points in hand. Barrovians suffered a blow when Dave Jump became unavailable for a large part of the season although Sylvia Dickson stepped in and did an admirable job, and they could still feature in a promotion spot but have to play 4th placed Barrow F.

PETER POWELL DIV 1 CUP FINAL

The final between Groves and County Officers A was a terrific clash which , under the new formula ,went to 4-4. The deciding game saw Sue Burgess up against Neil Ayling and the result was a narrow win for Sue and the Groves team.

BURRELL CUP DIVISION 2 CUP FINAL

Champions Beechwood jumped into a 3-0 lead when Dave Kay outpointed John McInally but Saughall Deva fought back and once again the scoreline went to 4-4! The final game this time was a doubles and Polina and John pulled off a fine win to see Saughall home 5-4.

MEETING OF THE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
Held at the Wheatsheaf
On Monday 21st November, 2011
MINUTES
Present Bryan Fitzpatrick (Chairman), Russell Benstead (Treasurer), Veronica Nicholas (General Secretary), Dave Terry (Fixtures Secretary), Tony Collard, Lola Roberts (Division Secretaries), Dave Kay, Linda Powell.
Apologies Were received from Rob Wylie
Matters Arising
The committee has decided that the Bradley Cup (First Division Cup) is to become the Peter Powell Trophy, in his memory, and any remaining money from this generous bequest will be put to the present scheme for training young people.
1. General Secretary
a. Apologised for not being able to send out the minutes of the last meeting or the agenda for this meeting owing to a computer breakdown.
b. Veronica handed out ETTA leaflets “ETTA Laws of Table Tennis” which should be given to every team captain.
2. Treasurer
a. Russell reported that all payments due from players have been paid.
b. ETTA Registrations – 130 players in our league are registered with ETTA whilst only 120 have paid their registration fee.
c. The committee has decided that those players who have not registered with ETTA at January 1st 2012 will forfeit all points won up to then and until they become registered.
3. Division Secretaries
a. Bryan reported six games have had to be postponed, mainly due to players being injured. Tony has had no reports of postponed matches and Lola has had three reports of postponed matches : Saughall-2 and County Officers-1.
4. Website
a. Simon feels that a full list of players and their position in each division should appear on the website so divisional secretaries are now giving Dave the necessary information to send to Simon.
5. Fixtures Secretary
a. Tournament Date is to be 1st April 2012 at County Officers 12noon–7.00pm
b. Finals Night is to be Tues 3rd April 2012.
c. Dave reports that Brian Keen, regional coach, has offered his services to our league and Bryan and Russell are to meet with him to discuss terms and will report back to the committee.
6. Coaching
a. The Sportivate initiative is doing well at Chester Youth Club (where there are three tables in use), New Scene Youth Club and at Caldy Valley Youth Club.
b. Liam is suffering from back problems at the moment and we wish him a speedy recovery.
7. New Player Update
a. There have been a few players who have made contact with us through the website but who have not appeared at the clubs suggested to them so Dave is to contact them. Veronica has added a player from a website enquiry to her team as Allan Stobie is injured and we wish him also a speedy comeback.
8. Joe Farrington Competition
Will take place week beginning 28th November, at Barrow, Whitby, County Officers and the Groves and at Saughall later. The quarter finals will take place during the week of the 12th December.
AOB Veronica has received official notification from Karen Tonge that Barrie Russ, a member of Dave Terry’s team, is currently suspended, by ETTA, from playing and coaching.

Date and time of next meeting: The Wheatsheaf, Upton
Monday 9th January, 2012
2.00pm
